3 Interesting Features of the 2018 Kia Soul EV

The Kia Soul EV is a trendy car popular with everyone from hipsters, to environmentalist, to soccer moms. The funky hatchback is loaded with personality and wonderful features. It’s known for being practical, yet stylish. With an impressive range of over 90 miles on a single charge, the 2018 Kia Soul has a cool eco-vibe that makes for a remarkable ownership experience. These are three interesting features of the 2018 Kia Soul EV.

UVO is Kia’s incredible infotainment center. Every driver has their own personality, just like every Kia. That’s why UVO is available in three suites including eServices, eco, and luxe. Each suite comes with its own unique services and features. While all UVO-equipped vehicles include some standard features, both eco and luxe include additional features that further enhance the driver experience.

Roadside assistance is available with the simple push of a button. If for some reason your car is acting up, you can run instant diagnostics and make an appointment with the nearest dealership from the convenience of your car. Other amazing features include My Car Zone, which allows you to set up alerts for the young drivers in your household for things such as curfew, speed limit, and geographical boundaries. Also if your car is stolen, UVO can assist the police with recovering it quickly.

Kia calls it Soul Power and you’re going to love it. We’re not talking about the kind of power you need to drive a quarter mile in under ten seconds. That’s an entirely different kind of car. By power, we mean how you power the car, or in the Soul EV’s case, charge it.

With three ways to charge the EV — including standard DC Fast Charging — you can recharge at the office, your home, or any public station. The 6.6 kW onboard charger maximizes throughput for faster charging. And the ultra-dense battery provides energy in an extremely efficient package, providing an extended driving range and more room inside the cabin.

Eco-Friendly Materials

The Soul EV waves its environmentally friendly flag in more ways than one. Exclusively bio-sourced materials means that it shows its eco-friendly roots beyond that of reducing carbon emissions. It is also surprisingly comfortable. Split-folding rear seats provide plenty of cargo space and a number of configurations for storage. From the available leather seats to the distinctive stitching, the beautiful details make it fashionable and functional.

Kia has been impressing customers and critics for decades, and they’ve really raised the bar with the 2018 Soul EV, where innovation meets style. From its roomy interior to its hip looks, from its charging power to the UVO features, it’s an awesome car and one that deserves all the attention it’s getting. We at Green Kia invite you into the dealership to take one for a test drive and see for yourself what the hype is all about.

What Is the Kia Stonic?

Kia has the market buzzing – what is the Kia Stonic? This uniquely named vehicle has caused a stir. It is a slick-looking subcompact crossover that packs a big punch. Since early in 2017, there have been rumors and innuendos about the Kia Stonic. Now that Kia has finally announced its third quarter review, let’s separate fact from fiction.

The Kia Stonic Rumors

The industry was buzzing so long about the Stonic, that it seemed like an eternity before Kia finally announced its launch. The car paparazzi first snuck the first glimpse of this slick subcompact while it was going through a series of test drives in Sweden. Of course, this increased the rumors. Here are some of them:

  • The vehicle’s exquisite prototype design far outclassed its subcompact class.
  • The Stonic would compete in the same class with crossovers like the Honda HR-V, its Hyundai cousin also under design, and the Chevrolet Trax.
  • Its funny name derived from the words “speed” and “tonic.”
  • The Stonic would hit the market in the second half of 2017.
  • The Stonic would pack a 4-cylinder engine and carry cutting-edge safety features.

The Kia Stonic Innuendos

Rumors are usually followed with innuendos and the Kia Stonic rumors follow suit. Since most prototypes tend to exaggerate the actual car, car experts have their own thoughts about the final product. One, for instance, insinuated the actual body design would be a watered-down version of the prototype. The interior seemingly aligns with a more realistic presentation of what Kia usually delivers.

The Kia Stonic Facts

The Kia Stonic buzz led to rumors and innuendos, now there are facts. Kia has announced the Kia Stonic will be available in the European market for third quarter 2017. There is still uncertainty whether it will be available in the US market since it is in the same class with the US Kia Soul.

The Stonic is only available as a front wheel drive with the following engine options and as suspected, they have a turbo engine in the mix:

  • 1.0-liter T-GDi
  • 1.25 and 1.4 -liter naturally aspirated engine
  • 1.6-liter diesel engine

This subcompact vehicle has plenty of space for its size.  Its above-the-class interior space makes riding in it fun and comfortable. It also comes equipped with the latest infotainment technology and includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Enjoy a long ride with good music and lots of space and comfort. The roomy Stonic comes with heated front seats for those cold winter days, cruise control, and keyless entry. Lastly, buyers have the choice of 20 color combinations that make the eye-catching Stonic even more appealing.

The Kia Stonic lives up to much of the hype that preceded its debut. Its speed, technology, style, and roomy interior will make competitors and fans pay attention alike. Its European appeal has the market anxiously awaiting its market debut. There have been no announcements whether this car will hit the US market — but you can best believe the streets are talking!

The 2018 Kia Sorento Is Awesome

The 2018 Kia Sorento enters its junior year as a carry-over with the same great style it had the year before.  All trims, except for the base trim level, are available in both FWD and AWD. The 2018  trim changes were more about package reconfiguration than new features. There are a couple of improvement across all trims:

  • A better headlamp performance
  • A front headrest redesign

As you walk through additions to the Sorento standard packages by trim, you will see the amount of functionality added to the higher level trims is impressive.

Kia Sorento L

The L trim is the Sorento’s base model. Drivers now enjoy more safety amenities in the standard package.

  • The rear-camera display acts as a second pair of eyes to drivers, allowing them to reverse more safely.
  • The auto on/off headlights adjust to the outdoor light, minimizing driver distraction.

Kia Sorento LX 2.4

The LX 2.4 now includes the cool and connected package as well as third-row seats in its standard package. The cool and connected package includes the:

  • UVO link Infotainment System with 7″ touchscreen display
  • Android Auto™,
  • Apple CarPlay™

Kia Sorento EX 2.0T

The EX 2.0T, which packs a powerful punch with its 2.0 liter turbo-charged engine, received a boost to its standard package as well.

  • The Smart-Power Liftgate® acts as a personal concierge with functionality that automatically opens the Liftgate® when it senses someone in front of it.
  • The Power-Folding Side Mirrors allow drivers more leverage to park in tight spots.
  • The Auto-Dimming Mirror with HomeLink® offers safety and convenience from harsh reflective lights and the ability to control home amenities such as your car garage.
  • The Power Windows with Driver & Passenger One-Touch Auto-Up/Down and the Power Windows with 2nd-Row One-Touch Auto-Up/Down add the one-touch up/down functionality to the front and back passenger windows.
  • Supervision Meter Cluster w/ 7″ Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Color LCD Display provides the information the drivers need in style.

Kia Sorento EX V6

The EX  V6, like its turbo counterpart, now includes the automatic Liftgate®, folding side mirror, and the one-touch up/down windows feature on the front and rear passenger in its standard package. Additionally, the standard package includes the cool and connected package the LX boasts. The Advanced Touring Package makes the EX V6 the trim that packs punch to its package with the following features:

  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning system
  • Lane departure warning system
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • ED interior light
  • 110-volt power inverter

Kia Sorento ESX V6

THe ESX VS bests all the other trims. It has all the same features as the EX V6, and it includes rain-sensing wipers. Additionally, its Advanced Touring Package gets a boost with:

  • A heated steering wheel
  • HID headlights with auto-leveling and dynamic bending light
  • Ventilated front seats

The 2019 Kia Sorento is expected to get a facelift and perhaps that explains why there aren’t so many noticeable changes. However, the standard upgrades, especially to the EX V6 and the ESX V6, explains why the Kia 2018 is awesome!

Meet the 2017 Kia Niro

You’re looking for a new vehicle, but you don’t want something bulky like an SUV or a truck, and it’s also become pretty clear that you’ve outgrown your old sedan. You need something that falls in between; something to fit your changing needs. If this sounds familiar, the 2017 Kia Niro is just the vehicle for you. More than just a crossover, the Niro combines the best of a hybrid powertrain and a subcompact crossover. So without further ado, we introduce you to the 2017 Kia Niro.

Fuel Efficiency

Every time you fill up the tank, it feels like you’re throwing money away. Why does gas have to be so expensive? If you’re looking for a fuel-efficient vehicle, you literally can’t get better than the Kia Niro. At the end of 2016, drivers took the Kia Niro EX from Los Angeles to New York City and made it on just over four tanks of gas. That’s a staggering 76.6 miles per gallon. In fact, that fuel efficiency earned the Niro a Guinness World Record.

Thanks to the 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery combined with the 1.6-liter GDI (gasoline direct injection), the Niro won’t leave you wondering why you’re filling up so often.

Performance and Handling

A fuel-efficient vehicle that still has some power can be hard to come by, but fortunately, the Niro has both. Driving the Niro definitely won’t feel like driving a Prius. Many hybrids use a CVT (continuous variable transmission) while the Niro runs on a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that delivers much more of a punch than the CVT. The dual-clutch transmission makes for smooth shifting, quick response, and an overall fun driving experience.

In addition to the sporty transmission, the Niro also includes regenerative braking, which captures kinetic energy to recharge the battery for great handling and efficiency for longer periods. A smart cruise control will also optimize performance and handling even while you’re using cruise.

Performance and fuel efficiency features are great, but they’re far more enjoyable with great interior features to top it all off. You’ll never get bored with UVO, Kia’s infotainment system. With UVO, you can send and receive texts, access your favorite apps, and connect to your smart device through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto all through the convenience and safety of voice control. Phone dying on those long trips? Charge it wirelessly in your Niro.

The great interior features don’t stop there. Stay comfortable no matter what the weather with available heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Need to bring some extra cargo for that long road trip? Use the under-floor storage trays or the 60/40 split-folding rear seats.

If you’re looking for a vehicle that not only gets you from point A to B, but saves you money while you do it, you can’t pass up a chance to drive the 2017 Kia Niro. If you have more questions or want to see the 2017 Niro in action, come down to Green Kia today.
